Call for Pattern Testers!

Hello, hello!

So, first up, quick reminder: the Color Lab workshop begins in just a couple hours, so if you haven't registered yet, go save your spot! It's $27 (paying members on Patreon save 40%), which gives you access to a short mini lesson when you unlock the post, plus the Zoom link for the live session, which begins at 1pm Pacific/ 4pm Eastern time today. I'll close purchases shortly before the workshop begins.

Second, I'm doing the 100 Day Project again! Are you?

Stay tuned for more info on that (and maybe watch for an Etsy drop!) but here's a little sneak peek at how it's going so far:

All right, let's talk about that pattern testing call!

Do you remember this lovely green shawl?

It was designed in collaboration with Ethan from Refracted LIght Fiber Arts and it uses four skeins of yarn in three colors.

BUT.

You don't have to do it exactly like I did if you want to test the pattern for me!

I've added "sizes" to the application on Yarnpond so you can select different yarn options kind of like you might want to do if you bought the pattern for yourself. I want to see how YOU envision this design for yourself!

That means stripes or no stripes, long as mine or shorter, fingering weight yarn or something heavier, speckles, solids, ombre, stashbusting—what ideas am I missing?? I'm open to them all!

So. If you're interested in testing this pattern for me, head on over to Yarnpond to apply at http://www.yarnpond.com/pattern_tests/5897.

The pattern has been tech edited and it comes with an appendix file for anyone who wants to obsessively track color changes or stitch counts (you totally don't have to, though!). I'm hoping to get some more photos soon, because I'd really like to show you the whole thing, ha ha!

All right, that's it from me for today. I've gotta go get ready for my first Color Lab!

-Connie

P.S. We had some unexpected visitors in the backyard! How would you feel about looking out your back door and finding a momma hen with a passel of babies in your yard?? 😆 I sure will miss these wild chickens!

I've been thinking about hand-dyed yarn a lot lately. You know the kind. That skein that makes you literally gasp out loud in the yarn shop. The colors feel alive. It's so full of promise and you snatch it right off the shelf! Maybe something like this? You take it home, wind it up, start crocheting and... you start to feel disappointed because it just isn't at all like what you imagined. If that's happened to you before, I want to say something clearly: You're not doing anything wrong. Most...

You may or may not have noticed that I didn't write to you last week. I meant to! But all of a sudden, on Thursday evening, I realized... Wait! TODAY is Thursday, not tomorrow. Oops. I thought I'd probably write the next day, or maybe even on Saturday, but we were at Disneyland to celebrate my in-laws' 50th anniversary and we were busy all day every day! Here we were waiting in line for the Ferris wheel (NOT the swinging one!): Making memories like this was pretty special. Eight adults and...

I'm sitting at my kitchen table this morning, coffee growing cold in my blue Molokai mug sitting beside me. The rose-ringed parakeets are squabbling and squawking at the bird feeder on our back porch while a handful of feral chickens meander hopefully underneath it, anxiously waiting for some choice morsel to get tossed out for them to gobble up. I'm sitting here letting my coffee get cold because, like many of you, I'm sure, my heart is so very heavy right now, and I just can't seem find the...
