So I was sitting here working on a new artist statement for a submission that's due tomorrow when I heard the notification on my phone that means a new email just popped through. Writing artist statements is... challenging, at times (could you hear me searching for a not terrible word there, lol?) and so the distraction was welcome. And oh! It was a pattern sale on Ravelry! And they used my GAL coupon code! Which means 1. the code works, yay! and 2. the Indie Design Gift-A-Long has officially begun!! So! If you've been eyeing any of my crochet patterns, go check and see if they're included in my sale bundle on Ravelry! You can use coupon code giftalong2025 from 5 pm US-EST on November 20 (today!) until 11:59 pm US-EST on November 26, 2025 to save 25% off any (or all!) of the 20 included patterns. Here are just a few of them: There are also over 600 other crochet patterns (and 3295 knit patterns) included in the sale bundle from some really great designers! Shop from the complete sale bundle (on Rav) or, if you wanna see if you've got any qualifying patterns in your library already (because oh boy at the prizes!), go check out the mega big bundle of ALL eligible patterns (on Rav). You can do an advanced search to narrow it down to just crochet patterns or to see what's already in your library by using the filters on the left-hand side of your screen. (Psst. This and the FOYAL, which starts tomorrow night, are pretty much the only (and biggest) sales I offer on patterns, so don't miss out!) Here's a peek at what will be included in the FOYAL sale (basically all of my patterns on Etsy): I focused on some of my best-selling patterns for the GAL this year, so you'll see some of my older ones in there! Many of them could use a revamp, which is why they're not on Etsy, but the instructions are still reasonably solid (even though I'd definitely tweak the writing on most of them). So you'll see prices that range from $5 to $8 in the sale bundle, and each one is 25% off with coupon code giftalong2025 now through next Wednesday!
In other news this past week, I survived my first craft fair in something like twelve years! It was actually a pretty good time. I met some cool people, sold a few skeins of handspun yarn, and had a lot of fun helping people curate a custom 12-pack of cards with my artwork on them. I think that was my favorite part! And you know, I forgot to take even one single photo while I was there. Womp womp. But that just means I was pleasantly busy, right? I did stop to snap a picture of some of my stuff as I was unpacking: Oh and the spinning demo was definitely a hit! I finished that up (will ply it after it rests for a few days) along with the cowl I started crocheting using one of my skeins of handspun yarn: And... I've had an idea—tell me what you think? That little mini skein there, that's ten yards I snipped off the end before I finished off the cowl. I was thinking about putting together a little sampler/taster/gift package to list on Etsy: one 10 yard sample of my handspun yarn paired with one of my cards and maybe a stitch marker? What do you think? Would anyone be interested in something like that?? If so, let me know what else you think would be fun to include! These would, obviously, be pretty OOAK offerings. But I thought it might be a fun way for you to be able to try out some of my super special Z-twist handspun yarn that's made especially for crocheters! 😘 It wouldn't be enough to do a whole lot with, maybe make a flower or add it in as an accent row or two on a small project like a hat or on one end of a scarf. Just a thought! Speaking of thinking, though, I better get back to that artist statement... Wish me luck. It's nearly ready, though! I think. Cheers, y'all! -Connie P.S. Patrons are voting for their favorite collection that will become the postcards I send out to paying members next year! Are you team Island Abstracts or Toxic Florals?? Go vote here! P.P.S. I've been thinking about hand-dyed yarn a lot lately. You know the kind. That skein that makes you literally gasp out loud in the yarn shop. The colors feel alive. It's so full of promise and you snatch it right off the shelf! Maybe something like this? You take it home, wind it up, start crocheting and... you start to feel disappointed because it just isn't at all like what you imagined. If that's happened to you before, I want to say something clearly: You're not doing anything wrong. Most...
