This morning I'm writing to you from a cute little cafe style table outside our room at the Navy Lodge on Ford Island. Do you see the cattle egret flying off?? It landed on the sign right as I was about to take the picture! It didn't appreciate me being there, though, lol. All of our things have been packed into boxes and crates and suitcases now and we are quickly approaching our final 24 hours here in Hawaii. It is most bittersweet. Hawaii has given me so many wonderful gifts in our three years here and I know that she will go on inspiring me for many more to come! But it's time to close this chapter and look ahead to the next one: Georgia. Well. Sort of. I'm actually planning on putting out a call for pattern testers soon, tentatively next week, for the shawl I designed on Molokai that was inspired by the little crabs on the beach there! Do you remember this one? The pattern is with my tech editor right now! So do stay tuned if you'd be interested in testing. You can join my testing pool on Yarnpond here, if you're not in there already; it's where I host all of my pattern tests. I've also been working a little bit more on the garden themed kit scarf pattern. I shared this picture over on Instagram, but I'll share it again here because it just delights me! The scarf was 100% inspired by all my little wild floral paintings with ALL the different colors. I think these two projects together make a beautiful beginning for a new collection in 2027, don't you think!? Ah, but perhaps I'm getting ahead of myself. I need to focus on this transition, first, and our next big step is actually getting all of our remaining stuff (and all of ourselves!) onto the plane back to the mainland. This guy, included: Wish me luck! I suspect I may need lots of it over the next couple weeks, lol. Cheers, y'all! -Connie P.S. No bird pictures to share (besides the departing cattle egret, I suppose!), but how about one last rainbow from Hawaii? |
Seeker of beauty and joy in the cracks of mundanity, inviting you along for adventures through texture and color!
I haven't quite decided on a name for this one yet because my inspiration for it was twofold: First, all my little wild floral paintings for the 100 Day Project, of course! And second, Moorit magazine's recent call for submissions, which included some neat images on their moodboard of textured book storefronts and other gridlike pictures. The floral influence combined with the grid inspo became a garden trellis! Buy Pattern Preview on Patreon $5 Post stitches almost always offer a fun...
There's a big old blue jacaranda tree just outside our backyard that shades us almost year round. I adore her. And if you've been with me for a while, you've probably heard me talk about this tree and share pictures before. Isn't she gorgeous!? Photographs don't do her justice, of course. Here's a picture from a previous year, when the blooms were exceptionally lush: The flowers some years fall so thick from her branches that the grass is carpeted with them. It's pretty amazing. Some...
Hey, y'all!
