Our HHG (household goods) were delivered from across the Pacific on Tuesday. It took about... six weeks? Not terrible, but still a long time to be without your things!

Like my pillow. I really missed my pillow, y'all!

This is our 8th PCS (Permanent Change of Duty Station) move, if I'm doing my math right, and I think we've hit the turning point when it goes from getting easier to just.. being tired of it.

I'm on day 3 of unpacking now and I just don't feel like deciding where things should live in yet another new kitchen!

And I don't even want to talk about the mess that is all my craft room/studio space things. 😖

I don't know if I can salvage all of my cabinets or not. I even reinforced some of them when we moved to Hawaii! But they just couldn't handle a second move across the ocean, I guess.

Those of you who also have yarn and project storage spaces - what's your favorite brand or type to use? I suspect I may be in the market for something new...

For the next few days at least, I think I'm mostly just going to ignore that room! The kitchen is usually the hardest to unpack and clean and organize and put away anyway. So it will probably get most of my focus time. Lots of unwrapping. Lots of washing.

We usually do a pretty good job unpacking in the first week or so, though. Maybe like 80%?

It's that last 20% that gets us. Which is why we have a few boxes that haven't ever been unpacked over a move or two or three.

At this point we ought to be able to just chuck them right into the dumpster, right?

I don't think I'm brave enough! SOME day, though, I'm going to succeed in unpacking EVERY SINGLE BOX!

In other fiber related news...

I didn't quite finish up spinning the pretty little purple rolags that I shipped ahead with my e-spinner, but I now have a comfy chair set up in the corner of one room that's ready for me to finish that last rolag whenever I'm ready to sit down with it!

It's nice to have our furniture.

And this has been my favorite crocheting and reading chair for... 15 years? Maybe longer. I don't remember exactly when we bought it.

I still have those reading glasses, too. And I need them even more now than I did then, lol. 😆

Oh, I also started unpacking some of my fiber artworks, too! Which means I can start looking at art show submissions again. Yay!

Speaking of which, I actually just got some creative assets to share about an upcoming mini exhibition in California.

If you think you'll be in the area, you'll have to let me know if you go! I doubt I'm going to be able to make the trip out to see it, though it IS only about an hour from my SIL in San Diego... 👀

It opens during the Sharks After Dark event at the Ocean Institute in Dana Point, which makes me extra sad that I won't get to see it in person because that just sounds like a really fun time!

The piece shown in the image was created especially for this show and it was the last tapestry I spun for and crocheted in Hawaii. The marine debris that was turned into beads for it was collected off one of our favorite beaches on the tail end of the kona low storms back in March.

I'm still working on writing about it and organizing my photos and videos from its creation, but I'm hoping to get that done soon. Now that I have my desktop computer again (though it's still in a box) it should be easier!

Hopefully I'll have more to share soon.

For now, though, I better get back to those boxes! They sure won't unpack themselves.

P.S. We took a break from unpacking last night to go catch some baseball. The kiddo was pretty much only there for the snacks, lol. But that was enough to make him happy!
